Despite having a highly complex body, humans can flexibly learn, select, and execute motor skills according to changing external environments—such as the properties of tools or the terrain. Motor performance is also shaped by internal factors, including bodily states and mood.

Our research aims to uncover the neural mechanisms that support this flexibility—and to understand when and why it becomes constrained.

To address these questions, we combine behavioral experiments, physiological recordings, computational modeling, and high-resolution functional brain imaging using ultra-high-field MRI.
