Abstract:
To effectively adapt to changing environments in goal-oriented activities, it is imperative to observe and evaluate one’s actions and their consequences. The performance monitoring system in the posterior medial frontal cortex is hypothesized to detect errors and process performance feedback regarding actions. This presentation primarily focuses on an electrophysiological index of performance feedback processing, namely feedback-related negativity (FRN), in an experimental paradigm wherein participants are occasionally unaware of their errors.
We examined the potential modulation of FRN by objective and subjective error information. Additionally, the modulation of other response- and feedback-related components by error information will be presented.
