Abstract:
There have been increasing applications of VR technology in sports and other motor skill training. On the other hand, some cases have been reported in which motor skills trained in the virtual world do not transfer well to real space. One of the reasons for this could be that the force information generated by interaction with objects is not represented in the virtual world. This talk will introduce a VR system including force sensation presentation developed to support the acquisition of juggling skills. In particular, taking advantage of VR’s strength in reproducing the unreal world, the effect of empirically-known slow-tempo motor learning to the VR-juggling and changes in brain activity associated with the improvement of juggling will be presented.
