演題：Neural Mechanisms for Enhancing Human Learning: Insights from Category Learning and Virtual Reality

Abstract:
Humans must master many complex tasks throughout their lives—some of which, like detecting cancer in medical images, are critical to human health and wellbeing. In this talk, I will present two recent projects that explore how we can improve human learning by leveraging insights into neural mechanisms. First, I will discuss how combining category learning with visual perceptual learning can enhance the generalizability of perceptual improvements. Second, I will describe how immersive virtual reality environments, enriched with naturalistic movement, can optimize learning in challenging categorization tasks. Together, these studies offer new directions for designing training paradigms that align with how the brain learns best and give insights into the neural mechanisms of human learning.
