演題：Neuroscience and phenomenology: An unlikely alliance?

Abstract:
Phenomenology is one of the most influential philosophical traditions in modern philosophy, known for its distinctive commitment to carry out a thorough first-personal inquiry into the nature of conscious experience.
While phenomenology is often considered to be inimical to naturalistic studies of the mind, there also have been several attempts to combine phenomenology and neuroscience since the 1990s. In this talk, I will offer a brief overview of phenomenology and these recent attempts to combine it with neuroscientific studies of the mind.
