Abstract:

The emergence of a variety of complex movements such as skilled forelimb movements and instrument manipulation is one of the amazing accomplishments of biological systems. My present goal is to reveal how these movements are learned and represented in broad cortico-subcortical networks at levels of single synapses, single neurons, and neuronal population. We have developed mouse motor tasks and a variety of optical techniques including two-photon calcium imaging and optogenetics. In this talk, I would like to overview our recent results about the circuit mechanisms underlying motor learning in the mouse brain. I will also talk about our recent development of motor tasks for the common marmoset and two-photon calcium imaging during the task performance.

About CiNet’s Monthly Seminar:
In CiNet Monthly Seminar, distinguished external (national and international) speakers will give a lecture about their latest work. The lecture will be held once a month from 16:00 at the CiNet main lecture theatre, followed by an informal discussion in the coffee room. List of speakers will be announced in advance. Everyone is welcome to attend, and welcome to join the after seminar discussion.
