Abstract:
Voluntary movements produce a large amount of sensory signals, which might overwhelm the central nervous system if not properly regulated. This regulation is called “gating” and known to occur at the cortical and subcortical neural circuits. In this talk, I would like to summarize our research analyzing somatosensory-evoked potential in the multiple cortical areas as well as spinal cord in monkeys performing an instructed delay task, and discuss the precise neural mechanism and the functional relevance of sensory gating.

About CiNet’s Monthly Seminar:
In CiNet Monthly Seminar, distinguished external (national and international) speakers will give a lecture about their latest work. The lecture will be held once a month from 16:00 at the CiNet main lecture theatre, followed by an informal discussion in the coffee room. List of speakers will be announced in advance. Everyone is welcome to attend, and welcome to join the after seminar discussion.
