私は脳が身体運動を制御したり新しい動作を学習したりするメカニズムを研究しています。特に、「我々の脳ではどのように外界や自己の運動に関する情報が表現されているのか」、「その情報表現形式はどの程度我々の運動制御・学習能力を規定しているのか」、「経験によって情報表現はどの程度・どのように変化するのか」という問題に興味を持って研究を行っています。この問題にアプローチするため、心理物理実験・脳機能イメージング(fMRI)・数理モデリングなど複数の手法を用いています。

脳は外界の情報を入力として受け取り、様々な処理を経て運動として出力を行いますが、私のこれまでの仕事はどちらかというと出力寄りの研究が中心的でした(例えば、腕を動かす際の運動情報表現の左右差がどのように両腕協調動作における実行・学習に影響を与えているか、系列運動がどのように脳内で表現されているかなど)。
CiNetでは対象を入力側(例:視覚系)まで広げて、より広い観点から上記の問題に取り組みたいと考えています。
