(4th subsection, Pure sciences)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has been recognized as a pioneer researcher for \u201csingle-molecule measurement technology for protein dynamics\u201d in the field of biophysics. Based on his original ideas, his many groundbreaking achievements includes the elucidation of the mechanism of muscle contraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, as Center Director, he promotes research on neuroscience based on the concept of \u201cYuragi,\u201d which is at the heart of his achievements so that the center can make a contribution to new ICTs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-container-2 wp-block-column\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"181\" height=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/cinetjp-static3.nict.go.jp\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/08\/89e232e82f3c1c30e88507627e093abe.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1227\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Comment by Toshio Yanagida:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have been challenging the understanding of life with my mentor, Dr. Fumio Osawa, by bringing in the ideas of \u201cnot too much\u201d and \u201cnot too little,\u201d which can be called Japanese culture. I have been arguing with researchers from all over the world for many years about the unique concept of \u201cYuragi,\u201d which is rarely seen in Western cultures.
