Abstract:
Have you ever wondered how publishing in the ‘Nature’ journals works? Or about what scientific editors actually do? In this talk, I will provide an insider\u2019s view of publishing in Nature Human Behaviour and the career path of a full-time professional scientific editor. In the first part, I will discuss the journal\u2019s multidisciplinary scope, editorial mission, and commitment to robust scientific practices, transparency, and research integrity. I will offer insight on the editorial and peer\u2011review processes, from submission and initial assessment through revision, decision\u2011making, and appeals. In the second part, I will discuss the role of a professional journal editor, including day\u2011to\u2011day responsibilities, challenges, career trajectories, and my own personal experience with the journal since 2022.
