Recognizing shapes is a remarkable feature of the primate visual system. Visual area V4, an intermediate stage of visual object processing in the macaque brain, includes tons of neurons that exhibit selective responses for object shapes. We studied how the shape-selective neurons are spatially organized in macaque visual area V4.
