Talk Title: On Designing a Neuro-Inspired Communication Protocol for IoT

Kenji Leibnitz
Senior Researcher, CiNet PI
Neural Information Engineering Laboratory
Center for Information and Neural Networks (CiNet)
National Institutes of Information and Communications Technology (NICT)

Host PI: Kenji Leibnitz

Abstract:
In this talk, I summarize our ideas and developments towards designing a new wireless communication protocol that transmits information using pulses, inspired by neural spikes. I will discuss how this method compares with conventional link layer protocols that are currently used in wireless local and personal area networks. Furthermore, I will also briefly show some examples from when we started using hardware implementations of this protocol in real-world scenarios to evaluate its performance.
